you hiding in leaves and briar
circumstance becoming dire
run past rocks through animal tracks
over the well bee eaten path
hear their hissing from behind you
no moonlight is left to guide you
out of breath and out of patience
tired of this altercation
in a dream you could escape them
no one else can see what's chasing
forget all that you know
what you once called your home
watch it all go up in smoke
the fire will glow
forget what you knew
sun is burning blue
earth is a new hue
the moon's eclipsed you
starlight vanished too
no cloud in your view
stretched out on the dune
that which you sink through
